Even though LG’s GD910 watchphone has still a long way to go before tasting success, the company intends to unveil more such devices next year. With CES coming up in a couple of months, it remains to be seen if they will be using the event to go all official with a new watchphone, similar to what they did in January this year. The move, without a doubt, generated lots of publicity for the company.
LG stated, in an announcement on Thursday, more styles will be made available next year. While no additional details were announced, which is not surprising, it was interesting to observe that LG mentioned additional styles in the plural rather than singular. That means we can expect not one but several watchphones being launched.

Nokia continues to invest in its Ovi brand. Only recently, the company has renamed its Nokia Music Player (PC Client) as Nokia Ovi Player.
Apart from the name change, not much is added to the application’s newest version. Windows 7 support remains, and there are a few minor UI tweaks, as also a fresh option in the navigation/filter tabs – “Recent”. Nokia Ovi Player continues to be a resource guzzling application, but it’s a convenient way to manage music library for those owning Nokia devices.
The new version can be downloaded by opening from “Help” > “Check for updates now” menu. Alternatively, you can visit the Nokia Music website.

According to reports, Motorola is doing well with their Motorola Droid. In spite of reports from some indignant bloggers about being unable to find any lines outside of their local Verizon Wireless store on the day the Droid was launched, the latest word on the street would have us believe that Motorola is pushing around 100,000 Android-powered Motorola Droid phones into eager customer hands over the weekend. The estimate is provided by an analyst citing Verizon’s countrywide stock of 200,000 Motorola Droids, of which approximately half have already been sold.
There’s no feedback from Motorola regarding how well the Droid is selling, but Mark McKechnie, analyst with Broadpoint AmTech, thinks that Verizon Wireless had around 200,000 Droid phones in stock for the November 6 launch. “I see the first few days as encouraging,” according to McKechnie said. “There seems to be pretty good demand — they’ve taken the right steps and picked a good partner with Google on the Android side.”
The positive launch-weekend sales estimates could indicate Motorola’s return to relevance in the mobile market. It’s expected that Motorola will sell one million Android-powered smartphones this quarter, with 10 million units sold next year. Yet, the numbers pale when compared to conservative predictions that see Apple selling 8 million iPhones this quarter and some 28.5 million iPhones next year.
Obviously, the Droid is a good beginning for Motorola’s comeback, but the mobile phone manufacturer has a good deal to do in the long-term. It should be interesting to find out how the Droid sells during the holiday shopping season, which has traditionally been a bonanza for iPhone-maker Apple.

It’s no secret that Motorola and Google have joined hands on the Droid, but still it wasn’t expected that the search behemoth will be promoting the smartphone on its homepage, which typically doesn’t carry any ads at all. Hence, there can hardly be much doubt that Google bets heavily on Android and this move on their part is their way of demonstrating the real iPhone slayer is now available, flaunting the newest version of Google’s mobile OS, which is Android 2.0. Moreover, it’s a mystery if some cash changed hands in the process, and seeing that Verizon has spent a small fortune for promoting Droid, that sounds like a viable option, too.

Motorola made an announcement that “B” of the BRIC countries will receive their Android 2.0-powered Droid. The country in question is Brazil, of course, and because the carrier is TIM, it is the GSM version of the phone dubbed Milestone that interested users can pick up. The price isn’t known, but the good news is that the version TIM is going to sell features the multi-touch display, which comes in very useful if you want to zoom all around the Web, maps and such things.
You might be aware of the specs, but for those who don’t, here they are – the display measures 3.7 inches, and there’s a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, GPS, HSPA connectivity, 3.5mm headset jack, WiFi and a 1400 mAh battery.

Rogers announced today it’s going to make available the Nokia N86 for the holidays, and is utilizing the occasion to take a few snipes at the TELUS and Bell HSPA launches. Rogers claims that their “unparalleled HSPA smartphone lineup underscores Rogers’ network superiority”, and is also milking the XPERIA X1 and the LG Eve for all they’re worth. The N86 in an especially good choice for anyone seeking a combination of simple phone, a superlative camera, and potential for sophisticated smartphone functions. The device’s attractiveness is also enhanced by the $99.99 on contract price point. But even so, it’s going to be tough competing against the hype TELUS and Bell are presently commanding. Rogers stands to gain from the fact that a holiday launch for WIND mobile appears uncertain, because then they would have to face even more competition. In case you’re keen on snapping up the N86 once it becomes available, don’t forget to check out this review, and keep tabs on the Rogers online store.

November is turning out to be quite the month for launching Android smartphones. With the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 seeing some attention and the Motorola Droid already official, the Android space is hotting up quite a bit. What’s in line next? Well, it’s the Behold II from Samsung. From available information, it seems Samsung and T-Mobile are preparing to introduce the Behold II in all its AMOLED glory on November 12.
Details are sketchy at the moment, but it’s likely that the Samsung Behold II will be going live November 18 on T-Mobile USA. Rumor has it that the Behold II is going to launch with a price tag of $249.99 (of course, with a 2-year contract). In return for your hard-earned cash, the Samsung Behold II is going to bring you a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen capacitive, 3G, WiFi, GPS, 5-megapixel camera having auto-focus and flash, and 16GB of built-in storage.
More details should be on the way.

In case you’re using BlackBerry OS 5.0, and enjoy Pandora Radio, they’ve come up with an update for you that you might wish to install. The update takes care of a nagging issue which has to do with a song stopping with 26 seconds to go… and from there, unable to move on to the next song. An extremely irksome little bug, no doubt.
This is what Pandora has to say:
Good news – we just put up the new Pandora 1.1.2 update for 5.0 operating systems including Storm 9530 on 5.0 and the new Storm 9550. Other non-5.0 devices will have to wait a few days before it will be available while we finish testing, however most of the changes in 1.1.2 are to support the 5.0 OS.
You can get the new version by visiting www.pandora.com from your BlackBerry. If you’re not using 5.0 yet, hold tight… there’s an update coming soon!
